Wakeboards FAQs

What is a wakeboard tower?

Those new to wakeboarding may think of a tower and envision it as being something that people on the beach or shore stand on to get a better view of the wakeboarders. Towers actually belong on the boat – not on the shore. These towers are usually about seven feet high and are really not much more than a few metal rods connecting together to make an arch-like figure. These are used to help the wakeboarder get more air when doing tricks and jumping wakes. They also are often used by boaters for board and equipment storage.

How do I know which foot to lead with while wakeboarding?

Wakeboarding can be kind of tricky for the beginner. Perhaps one of the trickiest things to figure out is simply what you are supposed to do with your legs. There are a couple of ways you can figure out which leg should be your lead leg and which leg should be behind. The easiest perhaps is to pay attention to how you put your pants on. If you put your right leg in first, then you probably would be better off leading with your right leg or vice versa.

What are some of the most important safety tips I should follow?

Above all else, the most important thing you can do is wear a safety vest. These vests will go a long way to saving your life if there is an accident and accidents do happen. In addition to this, it is also important to have somebody watching you at all times (not the driver of the boat). Water skiing and wakeboarding can be extremely dangerous if there is not proper supervision. Make sure the boat includes a watcher as well as a driver to keep safe. Above all else, simply use common sense.
